Biological engineer in scientific platform (M/F) - Imaging - January 2026 (permanent contract INSERM)

Permanent contract (INSERM)

Expected start date: January 2026

Mission: The recruited person will be responsible for the Confocal Imaging division of the microscopic imaging platform of Inserm unit U1195. Its main mission will be to develop this pole in connection with the other imaging methods of the laboratory, within the framework of the unit’s research projects: – to propose developments via the acquisition and implementation of new technologies (e.g. TauSTED Xtend (Leica) or SIM lattice (Zeiss) for super-resolution microscopy allowing imaging of living cells/tissues, methods related to in-situ hybridization/RNAscope) – to develop innovative analysis methods (e.g. for spatial transcriptomic studies or via the development of analysis and quantification by Imaris software or other Aivia-type software) – to support and advise researchers/experimenters around confocal imaging (z-stack imaging, video microscopy, 3D visualization, qualitative and quantitative analysis of images, etc.). The recruited person will contribute to scientific monitoring and will be required to follow continuing training to strengthen their skills in the field of microscopic imaging. The work will be carried out in collaboration with the platform’s scientific managers. The candidate will supervise technicians, design engineers, postdoctoral fellows, and students on projects related to microscopic imaging. The candidate will contribute to scientific monitoring and will be required to undergo continuing education to strengthen their skills in the field of microscopic imaging. The work will be carried out in collaboration with the platform’s scientific managers. The candidate will supervise technicians, design engineers, postdoctoral fellows, and students on projects related to microscopic imaging.

Doctorate (M/F) - Light in Paris - March 2025

Project Title: Synuclein diffusion analysis in neurons using event-based super-resolution microscopy.

Mission: We are seeking a motivated candidate for a three-year PhD project funded by the European COFUND programme LightInParis. The objective is to study the mobility of alpha-synuclein in neurons in order to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying its aggregation in the context of neurodegenerative pathologies. The description of these mechanisms will rely on the use of event-based super-resolution microscopy. The thesis is co-supervised by Christian Specht (DHNS, Inserm, Université Paris-Saclay, Le Kremlin-Bicêtre, France), Ignacio Izeddin and Clément Cabriel (Institut Langevin, ESPCI Paris, Université PSL, CNRS, Paris, France). The starting date of the fellowship is the 1st October 2025.
