Societal Impact
Beyond the quality and excellence of our scientific discoveries, our research unit is committed to generating a positive societal impact through scientific, medical, economic, cultural, and environmental contributions.
Medical Translation
Our laboratory is located within Bicêtre Hospital in Kremlin-Bicêtre (Val-de-Marne, France), fostering strong links between research discoveries and their application to patient care. Members of our research unit are actively involved in numerous clinical trials.
These clinical studies have contributed, for example, to the development of gene therapy approaches for peripheral neuropathies. Other innovative therapeutic strategies are continuously being developed to improve patient care.
Ces essais ont permis, par exemple, d’apporter une offre de soin par thérapie génique pour des neuropathies périphériques. D’autres thérapies innovantes sont développées régulièrement au service des patients.
Economic Valorization
Our laboratory contributes to the economic valorization of scientific discoveries through innovation and technology transfer. It hosts and supports several spin-offs originating from or associated with our research activities.
- 🔹 MAAsiRNA
- 🔹 CryoCapCell
- 🔹 Mapreg
Training
Our research unit trains the scientists and physician-scientists of tomorrow.
It is integrated within the Faculty of Medicine at Paris-Saclay University.
Societal Questions
Our research unit investigates major scientific questions underlying differences in disease susceptibility between men and women.
📄 March 2023 Publication : Protective role of male hormones in women with multiple sclerosis
Sustainable Development
A working group dedicated to promoting an environmentally responsible approach, coordinated by C. Specht, was established in May 2023. It initiated a collective effort to reduce the ecological footprint of our research unit.
Scientific Research
Our research unit addresses unmet medical needs in the field of nervous system diseases and injuries. Our objectives are to protect neuronal cells, improve neuroregeneration, including myelin sheath regeneration, and promote functional recovery.
Our research provides new knowledge and innovative solutions for the benefit of society.
